Born on the Caribbean island of Jamaica and educated at Hunter College in New York City, I am a self-taught artist. All credit for the gift goes to God. One day I just started painting. Someone wanted to buy the pieces and my interest and passion increased with time.
The American public is largely unaware
that Caribbean Americans have contributed much to the culture and
achievements of this nation. By shining a light
on my Caribbean American heritage, I hope to leave a legacy for my children
that they come from a people who have a place in the history of the United
States.
Both my parents were born in Cuba so it's not surprising that my work has appeal to the Latin community as well. Having spent a number of years in New York and Florida, my family and I now reside in South Carolina. I'm curious and excited to see what nuances the culture of the South adds to my work.
